Blues Bonanza
PNC Pavilion played host to a night of all blues with Twelfth Night Guy and the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band. The fastest blues rock guitarslinger on tour, KWS, took the stage. Lead singer Noah Hunt had a Cincinnati homecoming. It's worth noting that Chris Layton, the band's drummer, was a member of Steve Ray Vaughan's band, given KWS's admiration for SRV. The band's set featured plenty of cracklingly good blues solos from the boss and keyboardist Joe Brown. Twelfth Night Guy, the headliner, kept the crowd delighted with his showmanship, funny asides, and bawdy banter, as well as his behind-the-back picking. Guy delivered the blues straight up and unfiltered to the near-sellout crowd.
